Home Cook Hero Launch Cook Off

Have you entered your secret killer recipe for the Home Cook Hero awards? Maybe you need a bit of inspo. At the launch, Catherine Leydon, Kevin Dundon, Gina Miltiadou and Vanessa Greenwood had a cook off of pancakes to be judged by three of last years winners. Tough nuts to crack, so there were. Thankfully, Catherine Fulvio was there to ensure no cheating went on. I wonder if she knew of a certain someone's pre-mixed batter..? Ahem hem.... 

 First up to bite their knuckles on the tasting verdict was Her Royal Bakingness, Catherine Leydon. 

 

Catherine knocked out four pancakes, one which she left out. My fave was her mint and orange pancake. Her other two stunners were maple syrup and blurberries, and a choc & raspberry parcel. DROOL....

Next up was Vanessa who dished up a very beautiful raspberry, passion fruit, mint, frozen cream and chocolate triangle tastefest.

Then, Gina, knowing her audience, made three pancakes with raspberries, chocolate..lots of chocolate and coulis. Nom and nom!

 

 

Last to face the mini Simon Cowells-in training, Kevin. Despite producing two gorgeous smelling and looking pancakes-one sweet, one savoury, the judges weren't won over in the end.

After intense deliberation, it didn't go to deadlock, and no whisks at dawn-Gina was announced the winner!

All that was left to do was to suí síos and enjoy a lunch provided by Cooks Academy. It's a tough life.
